le pont des AMOURS

The Lovers’ Bridge

This beautiful bridge is situated at the edge of Lake Annecy. Le Pont des Amours (Lovers’ Bridge) is found at the mouth of the Vassé canal. It links the Jardins de l'Europe (Europe gardens) to the Pâquier. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, this little iron bridge designed by Charles Galletto marks the mouth of the lake inside the city.

“If a couple kisses on the middle of the bridge, they will be united for life.”

The name of  “The Lovers’ Bridge”,  related with the background of the  former occupation which based on it; it was the place where to meet sex workers. Still the bridge is  a place where lovers find themselves loved.

Eglise Des Fins

The church of Saint-Joseph-des-Fins
The Basilica of St Joseph of Annecy was blessed for July 4, 1937, on the eve of the Second World War by Bishop Michael Florent from Villerabel, bishop of the diocese of Annecy

The initiator of the project was the priest Folliet Amedee, who thanks to his tenacity has led the project. The church was completed in 1941 by architect Paul Bellot Dom Benedictine, chunky style of the region, customized by this great innovator of contemporary sacred art, the eldest nearly 30 years Novarina. The interior of the building, erected in the rank of minor basilica by Pope Paul VI in 1964, outlawed almost all curves in favor of vaulting arches broken. The windows are Charlin. The construction of the Saint-Joseph-des-Fins accompanies the growth of the city of Annecy to the north, following the course of urbanization and airy yet conventional.
